Last week, before an audience of community partners, faculty and staff, Roseman University kicked off Breakthrough in Medicine! The Campaign for the College of Medicine with an announcement of a pledged gift of $10 million from the Engelstad Family Foundation. This generous donation will help Roseman University College of Medicine achieve its goal – raising the $66 million needed to establish the first private, non-profit, MD-granting medical school in Nevada, helping the state’s communities to overcome the chronic shortage of physicians and to improve healthcare outcomes.
The Engelstad Family Foundation joins many community, business, employee, and alumni donors who have embraced the College of Medicine’s mission, vision, and values. Donations are being used to hire the critical faculty and staff needed as the College of Medicine continues through the rigorous accreditation process. The College of Medicine is currently an applicant with the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) with the goal to achieve accreditation to enroll its first class of 64 students in the summer of 2019.
Roseman University College of Medicine will educate competent, caring and ethical physicians; conduct biomedical, translational, and clinical research that advances solutions to the healthcare needs of the communities we serve; and provide high-quality, patient-centered care and service.
