Neighborhood Health Series: A Cross-Sectional Survey of North India: Tobacco & Oral Precancer

Dr. Kishore Chaudhry, MBBS, MD, DNB, Associate Professor in the College of Dental Medicine will talk based on his vast research experience on the subject of Oral Cancer, which affects the lives of about 50,000 people every year in the U.S. He will highlight content from his latest publication of his research on pre-cancers and Pan Masala, a type of Tobacco, as well as with varied tobacco types used widely in India, on about 450,000 people living in North India.
He will highlight the cultural significance of Tobacco in India, and the natural history of the disease, as it progresses from white/ red patches in the mouth to oral cancers. The interpretation will focus on the U.S population and the need for preventive and early diagnostic measures including screening for oral cancers.
