Security Officers

Roseman University of Health Sciences contracts with outside professional security companies for guard services. There are three (3) full-time security guards monitoring the Henderson campus and five (5) full-time security guards monitoring the South Jordan Campus. This service is provided during normal operating hours. Additionally, there are drive-by security units that check both campuses several times per evening, weekends, and holidays.  Security officers are given written instructions on security policies, procedures, and any special event that may be occurring. The patrol jurisdiction of security officers is limited to any buildings or properties owned or controlled by Roseman University. Security officers are not sworn officers, but they are responsible for enforcing university policies, and those policies include enforcing violations of the law. Security Officers document violations of University policy/law and contact local law enforcement agencies to report observed violations of federal laws and state laws.

When an actual or suspected crime occurs, on campus property, including the parking lot, students/employees should report the incident to the Facilities Management Unit or if after hours to the security guard on duty. If a situation develops in which the student fears for his/her safety, he/she should immediately call 911 (9-911 from a university phone).  Students are encouraged to walk in groups when leaving campus after dark.  Concerns regarding campus security should be directed to the University Facilities Management Unit. When university sanctioned events occur on the weekends or after regular business hours, a security guard is present for the duration of the activity.

Facilities Management is responsible for the administration of the security service.  Although our officers do not have the authority to make an arrest, they are authorized to restrain them until the police arrive on the scene.

Reporting Crime and Suspicious Activity

Roseman University of Health Sciences places a high priority on maintaining a safe campus environment. Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to report any suspicious activity when it occurs. Crimes should be reported to the local police department and to the University. The following individuals are authorized to receive reports:

Security Guard on Duty

In accordance with Federal Guidelines, Roseman University of Health Sciences’ Annual Campus Safety and Security Report and Student Right to Know is available to the campus community and is updated annually. A copy of the report can also be obtained through the mail free of charge by calling the Facilities Management Office at 702-968-2037.

Important Security Information

One of the most important aspects of our institution is the quality of safety offered by the University.  Roseman is dedicated to providing a safe learning environment for our students, faculty and staff.  The Facilities Unit strives to uphold an environment where civility is practiced, diversity is respected, and safety is ensured.  To fulfill this goal, the Facilities Management Unit encourages campus community involvement, problem-solving and interactive relations.  We welcome suggestions that will enhance our services and look forward to fostering a safe and secure environment.

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act is the landmark federal law, originally known as the Campus Security Act, that requires colleges and universities across the United States to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses. Because the law is tied to participation in federal student financial aid programs it applies to most institutions of higher education both public and private. It is enforced by the U.S. Department of Education.

Crisis Management Plan

Roseman University of Health Sciences Crisis Management Plan was prepared by the University Planning, Priorities and Resources Committee. This document sets in motion a continuous process of planning, prevention, response, and recovery to crisis events that have the highest likelihood of occurring and the greatest potential impact on the campus community. Additionally, this plan establishes a Crisis Management Team (CMT) composed of University Administrators and other essential personnel to facilitate Roseman’s response to any crisis affecting the University.

For this plan, “crisis” shall be defined as an event, which is often sudden or unexpected, that disrupts the normal operations of Roseman or its educational mission and threatens the well-being of personnel, property, financial resources, and reputation of the institution.

The Crisis Management Plan is intended to establish a basis for the organization, policies, procedures and management of resources in order to respond to crisis events with the goals of:

  • Minimizing any injury or loss of life;
  • Preserving and protecting property (both personal and institutional);
  • Restoring critical functions to the university; and
  • Preserve the reputation of the institution.
