Dr. Mike Barnum is an Emergency Physician practicing in Las Vegas since
2003. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical
Services. Dr. Barnum attended Temple University School of Medicine in
Philadelphia and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at UC
Davis in Sacramento. For over 35 years he has developed and instructed
medical and rescue curricula. He serves as Assistant Dean for Clinical
Faculty Development at Roseman College of Medicine. He is a past
president of the Nevada chapter of the American College of Emergency
Physicians. He is Medical Director of AMR Ambulance in Las Vegas as well
as Assistant Director of Emergency Medicine at Valley Hospital Medical
Center. He is Medical Director of the Pima Paramedic Training program
where he lectures regularly. He is the chairman of the Southern Nevada
Health District’s (SNHD) Drug Device and Protocol Committee and past
Chairman of the Medical Advisory Board which is the primary advisory body
to the SNHD on EMS policy. He chairs the Valley Health System Pharmacy
and Therapeutics Committee. He was a 2018 recipient of the American
Ambulance Association’s Star of Life Award for actions taken during the
1 October shooting. He has a background in firefighting and was a fire
department training officer. He worked as an EMT (Emergency Medical
Technician) in both field and Emergency Department positions. Dr. Barnum
serves as an Unaffiliated Neurotrauma Consultant and as an Emergency
Response Physician for the National Football League. He holds certificates
in Swift Water Rescue and Vertical Rescue. Mike is also a pilot and Eagle
Scout.
