Hero Scholar: Samanta “Sammie” Khalil-Taylor

Samanta Khalil-Taylor’s path to nursing began in her own kitchen. After a difficult postpartum recovery following her son’s birth, she started preparing and delivering nutrient-dense meals to mothers in her community, an effort that grew from informal meal trains into The Nourished Patient, a nationwide recovery-focused meal service supporting patients through post-operative healing.

Her leadership as a user experience designer, building brand systems and leading cross-functional teams for companies like MightyFly and Cypher LLC, gave her the organizational skill and empathy to build something entirely new: a structured 6-week recovery framework for double jaw surgery patients, developed in collaboration with registered dietitians and healthcare providers. Through years of coordinating patient programs, kitchen operations, and direct client care, she has learned firsthand how small, consistent acts of care can transform someone’s healing experience.

Now pursuing an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Roseman University’s Henderson campus, Samanta brings a rare combination of systems thinking, hands-on caregiving, and a deep understanding of the gap between clinical treatment and recovery at home. The Hero Scholarship, funded by Cure 4 The Kids, will support her mission to become a nurse who bridges that gap, delivering thoughtful, coordinated, and truly patient-centered care.
