BIOGRAPHY:
Sheyla Pierre joined Roseman University College of Medicine in April 2021 and currently serves as the Director of Social Impact. In this role, she leads GENESIS, a flagship initiative that delivers comprehensive medical and social services to medically underserved communities across Southern Nevada. Sheyla provides strategic leadership and oversight of all GENESIS operations, including program design, quality assurance, community engagement, and sustainable growth.
As Director of Social Impact, Sheyla is responsible for advancing the College of Medicine’s mission to promote health equity through strategic partnerships, cross-sector collaboration, and community-centered innovation. She develops and implements institutional strategies that embed social impact into medical education, service delivery, and community-based research. She also creates pathways for meaningful community participation across the academic enterprise, ensuring that the voices and needs of local residents shape and inform the work of the university.
Leveraging her technology expertise, Sheyla integrates a high-tech, high-touch approach within the Office of Community Health Innovation that combines innovative solutions with personalized care to enhance service delivery and deepen community engagement, maximizing both impact and accessibility.
With a background in child welfare, mental health, and public policy, Sheyla brings a systems-level perspective and a deep, long-standing commitment to equity and social justice. Her approach is rooted in relationship-building, cultural humility, and a belief in the power of communities to drive transformative change. In her role, she not only provides operational and strategic leadership but also plays a critical role in embedding social impact and community voice into institutional priorities ensuring that the medical school remains responsive, accountable, and connected to the needs of the populations it serves.
