Hero Scholar: Gizelli Suarez

Service has shaped Gizelli Suarez’s life from the very beginning. Growing up in a household run by her parents’ home care business, she spent her childhood caring for elderly individuals, learning patience, dignity, and compassion long before entering healthcare herself. That foundation carried her to Honduras three times with Rearick Surgical Center, supporting surgical outreach for patients who would otherwise go untreated, and led her to lead a door-to-door community engagement group in college.

Gizelli most recently worked as an Emergency Room Technician at Centennial Hills Hospital, performing EKGs, inserting IVs, and supporting triage, building on nine years as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She has since completed Surgical Technology training with a 4.0 GPA and is preparing to begin work as a surgical technologist, all while precepting EMS students and advocating for patient dignity in high-pressure emergency settings.

Now pursuing an Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Roseman University’s Henderson campus, Gizelli brings a rare foundation of caregiving instilled from childhood, hands-on clinical expertise, and a resilience forged through rebuilding after setbacks. The Hero Scholarship, funded by the Las Vegas Aviators Foundation, will support her mission to become a nurse who leads with accountability, compassion, and an unwavering belief that service is a responsibility, not simply an activity.
