During the height of the pandemic, Paula volunteered at COVID-19 vaccination clinics almost weekly for a year, making a significant impact in predominantly Hispanic neighborhoods. Her ability to communicate in Spanish allowed her to break down language barriers, explain the vaccination process, and spread vital health information. Paula’s efforts were instrumental in helping individuals and families feel more comfortable and confident about getting vaccinated. Her experiences at these clinics underscored the strength of community collaboration in addressing major health challenges. Beyond the vaccine clinics, Paula also worked with Volunteers in Medicine in Southern Nevada’s mobile health clinics, where she provided care to underserved Hispanic communities. Knowing the difficulties many people face due to language barriers and lack of insurance, Paula’s volunteer work brought much-needed healthcare to those who might otherwise be overlooked.
In addition to her community service, Paula has honed her leadership skills through her work as an assistant manager-in-training at In-N-Out. Coordinating a dynamic team of associates, Paula excels in multitasking, delegation, and fostering a positive work environment. She emphasizes communication, teamwork, and empathy, recognizing the importance of both supporting her team and maintaining high standards of service. Paula’s leadership experience has further solidified her commitment to creating environments where everyone can thrive.
Paula’s passion for helping others and her dedication to improving the lives of those around her make her an inspiring Nursing Hero Scholar.
