Happy & Heart Healthy Holidays: Treating Your Heart Well in December

December 5, 2018

The holidays can be a stressful time of year. You may even catch yourself saying “bah, humbug” every once and a while. If you don’t want to be like Ebenezer Scrooge, Dr. Thomas Hunt, Professor & Chair, Department of Family Medicine, Roseman University College of Medicine, has some tips and strategies for keeping you happy and healthy during the holiday season. The heart bears many metaphors, and it truly can be challenged throughout the holiday season with family visits, changing routines, travel, big meals, sickness and lack of exercise. Don’t let this holiday season bog you down.

Learn how to stay on track, how to enjoy with moderation and how to navigate the many challenges of the happiest time of the year at this month’s Neighborhood Health Series on December 6th. Dr. Hunt will inspire you to think about the New Year and how to get working on true lifestyle change instead of quick fixes on the road to a healthy life.

Come enjoy an evening of free food, cooking demonstrations from Chef Lucky Thai and wine tasting with ONEHOPE.

Come hungry because the food menu Chef Lucky Thai has prepared is tasty and healthy – papaya salad, fresh spring rolls, chicken satay and chicken/vegan lettuce wraps which she will be doing a demonstration of for all to see how to prepare this favorite at home.

Chef Lucky Thai specializes in preparing authentic, fresh and healthy Thai food. Her award-winning food and business quickly grew popularity and attracted a variety of southern Nevada’s largest and most prominent companies. She was named one of the Top 100 Women in Las Vegas by the Las Vegas Magazine and in 2015 the Las Vegas Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority presented her with a Customer Service Excellence Award. In support of the community, Chef Lucky Thai donates her services throughout the Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson Nevada.

ONEHOPE Wine is a world-class vineyard in Napa Valley that makes a positive impact on the world with every bottle sold. Enjoy a complimentary tasting by Charla Schaefer with viaONEHOPE wine. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of ONEHOPE wines benefit Roseman University of Health Sciences Scholarship Fund, and ONEHOPE empowerment projects such as Breast Cancer and Autism research, Veterans support and Ovarian Cancer education initiatives. Those wishing to buy wine who are not able to attend may do so at https://www.onehopewine.com/event/794d5e18-1cab-48b4-b1dd-746e6072fbea.

Make this holiday the best one yet. Come to Roseman University’s Neighborhood Health Series on December 6th from 5:30pm to 7pm at our Summerlin Campus located at One Breakthrough Way, Las Vegas, NV 89135.
