Hero Scholar: Zane Willett
For Zane Willett, the 2025 Hero Scholar at Roseman University's College of Pharmacy, service has always been more than a career choice—it's a calling. His remarkable path from military service to emergency medicine demonstrates a deep understanding that true leadership means choosing purpose over profit, even when it requires personal sacrifice.

At 19, Zane volunteered to serve his country in the United States Army as a Human Intelligence Collector, spending four years at Fort Riley, Kansas. This experience taught him discipline, resilience, and the importance of being part of something greater than himself. After earning his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from UNLV with Dean’s List honors, Zane felt called to serve his community in a more direct way.
Pursuing emergency medical services, Zane earned both EMT Basic and Advanced EMT certifications from the College of Southern Nevada. For nearly three years, he has worked tirelessly in emergency medicine—first as an Advanced EMT with American Medical Response, and currently as an Emergency Room Technician at Spring Valley Hospital. Despite knowing he could earn more in less stressful positions, Zane chose to stay in emergency medicine because he wanted his work to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
His diverse leadership experience spans from high school basketball captain to Army team leader to training new hospital staff. Now pursuing pharmacy at Roseman University’s Henderson campus, Zane brings this unique combination of military discipline, emergency medical expertise, and servant leadership. The Hero Scholarship, funded by The Valley Health System, will support his mission to continue serving his community.
