Health Care Headliners honors health care professionals and organizations making a difference in the community each year. This year at the 10th Annual Health Care Headliners held at Citrus at Downtown Grand Hotel & Casino, Roseman University was honored in two of the 11 award categories. In the Volunteer category Roseman’s Student Nurses Association (SNA) won for their work with FEAT of Southern Nevada and the A Games. Bobbie Basson, 2015 SNA Community Chair & Roseman nursing graduate, accepted the award on behalf of SNA.
“FEAT and the A Games hold a special place in the hearts of SNA members and Roseman University as a whole, and together we are bringing attention to autism awareness,” said Amanda Birdwell, 2016 SNA Community Chair.
Dr. Mark Penn, Dean of the College of Medicine, won in the Education category for his efforts in moving Roseman University’s College of Medicine through the accreditation process.
“Accreditation is a very complicated and difficult process. It starts with understanding the high standards of the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), our national accrediting body for MD-granting medical schools, and making sure all of the standards are addressed, in order to begin recruiting the first class of medical students,” said Dr. Mark Penn.
The 11 award categories include Community Outreach, Dentistry, Education, Emergency Services, Innovation, Lifetime Achievement, Manager/Administrator, Nursing, Physician, Research/Science and Volunteer. Nominations are submitted by the professionals’ peers and clients. The Health Care Headliners 2016 was published in the “Sunday” on April 17th and in VEGAS INC on April 18th.
