Over the course of the final two months of the school year, DAAT has wrapped up with three drug take back events to combat drug abuse in the Salt Lake area. The first take back was held at April 8th at the Provo Towne Center Mall. This Take Back was part of the Household Hazardous Waste Day where residents of Utah County dispose other household goods such as vehicle fluid, batteries, electronics, pesticides and paper.

The second take back was held at April 29th outside the South Jordan Police Department as a joint event with AMCP’s Brown Bag event. Dr. Gregory and Dr. Sam Wardell of Molina Healthcare attended the event to provide a medication review to anyone who stopped by. A total of 56 pounds of drugs were collected within four hours.

The last take back event was held at May 13th at Murray Park as part of Miss Murray’s 5K Fun Run and Walk with assistance of Alyse Horton who is the Miss Murray and Hadley from the Murray Police Department. Participants get the opportunity to get rid of drugs before their workout and all proceeds from this event went to local organizations that support the prevention of drug abuse.
