Henderson Report – September 2019

While the outside temperatures here in Henderson are still scorching hot and fall doesn’t officially begin for another 19 days, summer 2019 has come to a close for Roseman University students, faculty and staff. We have officially kicked off our 2019-2020 academic year, and it will be a year of events and recognition as we celebrate Roseman University’s 20th Anniversary!

Our year of celebration will kick-off on the Henderson Campus on Tuesday, September 10. All of our students, faculty and staff are invited to come together for this special event as they are the important members of our Roseman University community that inspire us to continue to carry out our mission to educate healthcare professionals and advance healthcare education.

As we celebrate 20 years of growth and success, I’d like to take a moment to acknowledge several members of our Henderson Campus community who have been recognized for their own achievements. Not only have they been honored for their personal/professional success, but for their contributions to Roseman University.

First, Dr. Manas Mandal, associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences with the College of Pharmacy, has been appointed as a Fulbright Specialist for a tenure of three years. This is a remarkable and prestigious achievement that required hard work and dedication to accomplish. The Fulbright Specialist Program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and is a unique opportunity for U.S. academics to engage in consultancies at host institutions across the globe. Dr. Mandal will be sharing his expertise in pharmaceutical sciences as a representative Roseman University.

Second, I’d like to acknowledge Mr. Ken Wilkins, Roseman University’s chief financial officer and treasurer who was recently named Financial Executive of the Year in the Service category by Financial Executives International and VEGAS INC. Mr. Wilkins oversees accounting and finance for the University and since joining us in 2012, has helped strengthen the financial health and viability of the institution. Congratulations, Mr. Wilkins.

Finally, I’d like to acknowledge and celebrate College of Nursing Dean Dr. Brian Oxhorn and his faculty and staff for achieving an initial, five-year accreditation by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The Henderson Campus has been accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), formerly the National League of Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC), since 2008. The decision to switch from ACEN to CCNE accreditation is because College of Nursing felt that CCNE was more aligned with its strategic goal to offer graduate nursing education at the Masters and Doctoral level. Currently, the College of Nursing is accepting applications for the July 2020  class of the Master of Science in Nursing – Family Nurse Practitioner (MSN-FNP) program. The inaugural class will start in January 2020.

As the 2019-2020 academic year continues, I look forward to many more achievements by our programs, faculty, staff and students. I wish everyone great success during our 20th Anniversary year!
