Heart of Roseman: Sungmin Jung, DNPNA Class of 2027

What I value most about Roseman is the sense of community. The faculty and students are not only knowledgeable and dedicated, but also genuinely supportive. It’s a collaborative environment where everyone encourages each other, and successes—big or small—are shared and celebrated.

Three years ago, I immigrated from South Korea to the United States and began working as a medical ICU nurse in New York City. Caring for critically ill patients from diverse backgrounds deepened my passion for advanced critical care and ultimately inspired me to pursue a career in nurse anesthesia.dnpna student professional headshot

During my time in the ICU, I had the privilege of working closely CRNAs. I was continually inspired by their clinical expertise, autonomy, and ability to make critical decisions in high-pressure situations.  Witnessing their expertise and calm presence during life-or-death moments made me realize that becoming a CRNA would allow me to take on a more integral role in patient care—supporting patients when they are most vulnerable.

One of the main reasons I chose Roseman University was its Six-Point Mastery Learning Model®. The Block Curriculum allows me to immerse myself in one subject at a time fully, helping me absorb complex concepts more thoroughly and encouraged me to explore multiple learning resources. It has made my education feel both purposeful and effective.dnpna student in ippe

After graduation, I plan to practice as a CRNA in a high-acuity hospital where I can care for diverse patient populations and continue to grow professionally, promoting equitable access to anesthesia care and mentoring the next generation of nurse anesthetists.
