Henderson Report – September 2020

September 9, 2021

Thank you for taking the time to read this issue of spectRUm. I’m grateful for the opportunity to share a report from Roseman University’s Henderson campus.

It’s been nearly six months since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic and I couldn’t be prouder of the way the University and each member of our Henderson campus community has responded. Early in the pandemic, when we had to quickly transition to distance learning and working, our Technology Services team, faculty, staff and students took the challenge in stride and, as a result, the University continued to fulfill its mission. Now, as we welcome new students to the Henderson campus for in-person learning, the safety measures the University has in place combined with us following safety protocols, have made our campus a safe place to learn and work. I want to thank our Facilities team for the great job they have done to keep us safe.

While it’s important to educate and inform our internal campus community, as an institution educating future healthcare professionals, we’re also committed to informing the public about health issues and topics affecting our communities. I want to acknowledge our pharmacy and nursing faculty who have lent their expertise to local media to provide up-to-date information about COVID-19 to a weary and anxious public. You can read the array of newspaper, television and radio reports featuring their insight HERE.

During the pandemic, the College of Dental Medicine dental and orthodontic clinics were forced to temporarily close. During their closure, following guidance set forth by the CDC, American Dental Association and Southern Nevada Health District, the College developed and implemented safety measures to not only keep faculty and residents safe, but to ensure the health and safety of patients. This includes reducing capacity, installing barriers and deploying other social distancing strategies to limit close contact with others, and frequently cleaning and sanitizing surfaces. Everyone involved in treating patients is utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE) and everyone who enters the clinics, including residents, faculty and staff, is screened for symptoms or potential exposure. As the result, these clinics have been open and safely providing dental and orthodontic care since June.

It has been reported that many families in our community have skipped essential dental care during the pandemic for fear of exposure. However, with the safety measures in place, I want to ensure everyone that the risk of contracting the virus while seeking dental and orthodontic care at Roseman dental clinics is low. If you are need of treatment, I invite you to visit Roseman Dental’s website to learn more about the clinics services and to make an appointment.

As this new academic year progresses, I look forward to sharing with you the many great things happening at the Henderson campus, and how members of our campus community continue to serve each other and everyone in Southern Nevada.

Wishing you well,

Dr. Eucharia Nnadi
Chancellor, Henderson Campus
