Nursing Student Receives Arthur L. Davis Publishing Scholarship
Roseman nursing student, Amalia Edelman, is the recipient of the 2015 Arthur L. Davis Publishing Scholarship for her exceptional writing skills shown in her submission titled “Que mas?” (What Else?): Culture and Communication in Nursing.
The scholarship is for $1,000 and her submission will be published in the Nevada Nurses Association’s (NNA) next newsletter, RNFormation.
Edelman was judged by the RNFormation Editorial Board based on the following criteria:
- Scope and choice of question
- Use of concepts to address question
- Appropriate details
- Statement of problem or question with background
- Overall organization
- Level of content
- Development
- Grammar and mechanics
- Style
- Format
Students were given extra points if they were members of the NNA or the Student Nurses Association.
Thanks to Arthur L. Davis Publishing Company, the Nevada Nurses Foundation and NNA RNFormation Editorial Board are able to utilize this scholarship to encourage nursing students with writing ability. The Nevada Nurses Foundation and NNA recognize the importance of the printed word and the nurse writers who inform us, motivate us, inspire us, and help to define who we are and what we do to the community around us.

For as long as I can remember, I wanted to be involved in caring for underserved populations. Over the summer, I was finally given that opportunity as a nursing student. For one week, I went on a medical mission to Guatemala with my nursing class.
