President’s Report – April 2021

April 7, 2021

Greetings and welcome to the April edition of spectRUm. As always, I’m grateful to share with you the latest news from Roseman University. This month, we are pleased to promote events that bring our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community together to share in the success.

First, I invite everyone to join us virtually on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, for our 7th Annual Roseman University Research Symposium. As in previous years, the symposium will showcase research projects by students, residents, research fellows, and faculty from Roseman’s Colleges of Pharmacy, Medicine, Dental Medicine, and Nursing as well as projects by researchers at peer institutions in Nevada, Utah, and other surrounding states.

Featured will be research abstracts that cover a wide range of topics in various areas including bench-top science, clinical research, and educational research. They independently and collectively represent prodigious planning, methodical execution, and deeply insightful findings covering everything from oral health to diabetes and infectious diseases.

We’re also excited to welcome Keynote Speaker Dr. Larry S. Schlesinger, President, and CEO of Texas Biomedical Research Institute, one of the world’s leading independent biomedical research institutions dedicated to the advancement of human health through basic research into the nature, causes, prevention, and eradication of disease. Dr. Schlesinger will present “The impact of past, present, and future pandemics,” a timely topic as we work to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Information about the 7th Annual Roseman University Research Symposium may be found at https://research.roseman.edu/symposium/. On behalf of our organizing committee and all who have submitted abstracts to be featured, I truly hope you’ll join us online for this special event.

Another momentous event is fast approaching. Following last year’s cancelation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we’re proud to be able to hold live commencement ceremonies in Nevada and Utah to celebrate the Class of 2021.  This year, the Henderson campus commencement will take place at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 12 at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The South Jordan campus commencement will follow at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 15 at the Maverick Center in West Valley City.

Our graduates will receive specific information about safety protocols and family attendance as the rules and guidelines differ in Nevada and Utah. For more information, please visit https://www.roseman.edu/students-alumni/graduation/.

I’d like to close this month’s message by reiterating my thanks to all of our students, faculty, and staff who have persevered over the past year as we navigated the COVID-19 pandemic together. As our campuses are fully reopened, I’m happy to see so many of our Roseman family return to campus to learn and work. Important safety protocols are still in effect to keep us all healthy, safe, and, as always, Roseman Strong!

Wishing you a happy Spring season,
