The Thomas & Mack Center has four parking lots around the building. The lots are designated by color (Red, Black, White, and Gray) and numbered sections.
It is recommended that you and your guests park in the Black or Red General Parking Areas
Disabled parking and VIP parking areas are available in all lots.
Guests needing special assistance and close access to the building entrances are welcome to be dropped off at the entrance to the Thomas and Mack Center.

The Roseman University of Health Sciences Commencement ceremony is a festive occasion. The festivity manifests itself in many ways including the dress of the students; the faculty adorned in academic regalia; and the warmth, joy and satisfaction of accomplishment.
The ceremony is marked by dignity and seriousness as the conferring of degrees signifies long, hard work on the part of everyone involved including students, faculty members, administrators, parents, spouses, and other family members. Because of this, all attending parties are expected to maintain decorum consistent with the occasion.
Rules of Decorum and Courtesy:
For All Attendees
- All rules of the graduation venue, not addressed in this document, must be followed.
- Mobile devices should be placed in “silent” mode or turned off during the entire ceremony.
- Signs, fireworks, bottles, beach balls, cans, drugs, and alcohol are strictly prohibited.
- Noisemakers, including but not limited to, air horns, trumpets, and pots and pans, are strictly prohibited.
- The proper order of procession to the stage is: students, followed by faculty members, followed by the stage party.
- The proper order of recession from the stage is: stage party, followed by students, followed by faculty members.
- For all oaths and pledges, the graduates and other appropriate individuals will read with the speaker as the speaker recites.
- Disability seating areas are for those people with disabilities as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act. These areas are not appropriate for strollers and/or large bags. One additional person may be seated in this area with the person in need of disability seating.
For Graduates
- Graduates must arrive at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the ceremony.
- Graduates are expected to refrain from disruptive behavior.
- The graduation tassel is initially placed on the right hand side of the cap and moved to the left hand side when the graduate is instructed to move it.
- The only items permitted as a part of the graduation regalia are those issued by Roseman University of Health Sciences. No adornments to the graduation regalia are permitted. Examples of adornments include, but are not limited to, tape or writing on caps, leis or other necklaces worn outside the robe, and corsages and boutonnieres.
- Graduates should not carry any items with them in their hands as they process to their seats.
- Graduates are expected to wear appropriate clothing beneath the regalia. Business casual attire, at a minimum, is expected.
- Graduates are expected to return to their seats after the on-stage presentation and remain seated for the duration of the ceremony.
- Graduates will not be permitted to carry children or pets to the stage with them.
For Faculty
- Faculty members must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start of the ceremony.
- Faculty members are expected to refrain from disruptive behavior.
- The graduation tassel is initially placed on the left hand side of the cap and is not moved.
- Faculty members are required to remain dressed in the full graduation regalia for the duration of the ceremony.
For Family Members and Guests
- Family members and/or guests are expected to refrain from disruptive behavior.
- Family members and/or guests are not permitted on the stage for any reason and are not permitted to participate in the ceremony.
- Family members and/or guests may only take pictures during the ceremony at designated areas.
The following information details what is required for your opportunity to participate in the annual commencement exercise. These items are available in package deals from Herff Jones and can ONLY be ordered via their website link below. All payment methods are accepted and any questions related to ordering of regalia may be directed to Herff Jones at 702-396-4723 or 800-281-3305 or secretary@hjgrad.com.
Herff Jones is the University’s approved vendor for Commencement regalia. You can only order regalia online at HJGrad.com. The deadline to order regalia is typically 4-6 weeks before the day of Commencement. Please check your emails from the Student Services Office/Vice President for Student Affairs to confirm the specific order regalia instructions and deadline for your campus.
When you get to this page, you will find the ‘University’ section in the middle of the page, after the ‘High School, ‘Graduation Class Rings’, ‘Achievement Jackets’ and ‘Graduation Made Personal’ sections.
You can only wear regalia to the Ceremony that is distributed by Herff Jones specifically for Roseman University graduates.
You must return the rented items (e.g., gown, doctoral hood) to Herff Jones following the ceremony. After the Ceremony, look for the Herff Jones table/kiosk. Herff Jones staff recognize that you may want to take pictures with your friends, family and guests immediately after the Ceremony so staff will stay for at least 30 minutes after the Ceremony to give you some time to return these items. The Custom Gown and Hood are barcoded for ease of drop off after the ceremony.
If you decide to purchase a diploma frame, you can pick up the frame on Commencement day directly from the Herff Jones table/kiosk at the venue.
STUDENTS THAT DID NOT RETURN THEIR REGALIA TO HERFF JONES AFTER THE CEREMONY MUST CONTACT THEM DIRECTLY AT THE NUMBERS OR EMAIL ABOVE AND MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO DROP OFF AT THEIR LOCATION TO PREVENT FROM BEING CHARGED. REGALIA WILL NOT BE COLLECTED AT EITHER CAMPUS.
Bachelor Candidates (Graduates return gowns only)
The gown is black with the Roseman University shield on the left yolk. Rental gowns must be returned following commencement.

Master Candidates (Graduates return hoods and gowns only)![]()
The gown is black with the Roseman University shield on the left yolk. Sleeves are extended (a “crest”).
A master’s hood with the Roseman colors in satin. The outside velvet represents the color of your degree earned.

Doctorate Candidates (Graduates return hoods and gowns only)
The gown is black with two frontal velvet panels, and the Roseman University shield on both the right and left panels. Sleeves have three velvet bars representing doctoral protocol. Velvet panels and bars represented by degree color.
A doctoral hood with the Roseman colors in satin. The outside velvet represents the color of your degree earned.

Important Notes on Properly Wearing Regalia
The Gown
- All gowns should ideally be wrinkle-free and should be worn with the zipper in the front. The type of robe you wear depends on the highest degree conferred:
- Graduates from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program will wear a bachelor’s robe with a traditional sleeve opening.
- Graduates earning a doctoral degree will wear a doctoral gown, which includes three velvet bars on the sleeve and two velvet panels on the front.
The Cap and Tassel
- The mortar board cap should be worn with the elastic on the back side, and the mortar board should be mostly level on top of your head. The doctoral tam should also be worn level on your head. Caps and tams should not be worn on the crown of your head or back of your head. Graduates are not permitted to have any adornments on caps or tams, including but not limited to tape, writing, or other items.
- When students arrive for graduation, the tassel should be on the right side. You will be directed to move your tassel to the left side during the commencement ceremony.
The Stole
- The stole is a garment worn around the neck that may have a symbolic color based on the degree that the graduate is receiving, or the institution’s colors. Each regalia package includes one Roseman stole, and you can purchase additional “Stoles of Gratitude” to give as a gift to friends, family members, and others who supported you throughout your degree.
- Optional: Stole of Gratitude in Roseman University colors can be purchased and worn by friends and family members during Commencement. There is a limit of 5 additional stoles
The Hood
- The hood is probably the most misunderstood (and improperly worn) item, but it is a very important part of your regalia because it identifies the degree earned and the institution awarding the degree. Here are some basics to ensure you wear the hood properly.
- The hood is not actually intended to be worn as a “hood” over your head. It is draped around the neck and down the back of your gown.
- The outer part of the hood, called the shell, is generally black and is intended to hold the hood together and give it shape.
- The lining of the hood is on the inside and will be maroon for Roseman University. It should be worn against your gown with a little bit of maroon showing where the hood drapes.
- The velvet trim on the edge of the shell indicates the degree earned—for the College of Dental Medicine graduates it will be lilac and for PharmD graduates it will be olive green.
- Some hoods may also include a button or cord in the back that is designed to hold the hood in place and allow for it to show the appropriate amount of velvet trim and school colors (see common mistakes below for more details). An additional button or cord at the front is designed to hold the hood in place on the gown, away from the neck.
- Some of the most common mistakes graduates make when wearing the hood include:
- Wearing the hood upside down (so the end that should be draped around the neck is down your back).
- Improperly draping the hood so only black and the velvet trim are showing, with no maroon visible. The velvet trim should be turned outward at a point just below the shoulders (at the spot where there is a button or cord, if applicable), so the satin maroon lining is visible.
- Improperly draping the hood so there is too much maroon showing and very little velvet trim visible.
- Wearing the hood like a sash, draped around your shoulders or arms. The front of the hood should be around your neck, and lay flat as it goes over your shoulders.
A special note on hoods for PharmD Graduates:
- PharmD graduates will proceed into the venue with the hood on the left arm.
- PharmD graduates will walk up to the stage with the doctoral hood on the left arm.
- PharmD graduates will offer their hood to the faculty member(s)/administrator(s) designated to hood graduates.
- After being hooded, the graduate will walk across the stage.
A special note on hoods for DMD Graduates:
- DMD graduates will proceed into the venue wearing the DMD hood.
- The graduate will walk across the stage.
Additional Information
The only items permitted as a part of the graduation required regalia are those issued and/or approved by Roseman University of Health Sciences. Roseman allows a Commencement participant to wear a cord(s) issued by a student organization recognized by the University when that cord honors the graduate’s membership, leadership and/or contributions to that student organization. Graduates are only allowed to wear one stole – the stole recognized by the University that represents the graduate’s degree. No adornments to the graduation required regalia, are permitted. Examples of adornments include, but are not limited to, words, symbols, decoration, leis or other necklaces worn outside the required regalia (gown, cap and/or stole), corsages, and boutonnieres.
Diplomas are not issued at the graduation ceremony. The diplomas size is 11 x 14.
An email will be sent to your Roseman student email address (typically 2-3 weeks after degree completion) when diplomas are available (please be sure to check your Roseman student email after graduation for this information or make arrangements to have your student email forwarded to an email address that you check regularly).
Students will be required to respond with a confirmation of whether you prefer to pick up the diploma OR have it mailed to you before the Registrar’s office will release the diploma.
FYIs:
- The student’s legal name will appear on the diploma.
- A diploma will be issued to each Roseman student.
- If a student has a “hold” on his/her record, Roseman University will be unable to mail/issue the diploma until the hold is cleared.
- The name that is in the Student Information System (SIS) 30 calendar days before the student’s anticipated graduation date will be the name on the graduate’s diploma.
