Greetings from Roseman University. In this issue of spectRUm, we are excited to share great news about the development of the College of Medicine. As you will read, GENESIS was officially launched on March 30 on the steps of Las Vegas City Hall. This program is a household-centered approach to aligning healthcare, public health, and social services to help vulnerable Las Vegas households achieve resiliency.
The launch of GENESIS was the culmination of two years of hard work by Dean Dr. Joe Greer and the College of Medicine team and is a critical first step in creating a new kind of medical school right here in southern Nevada. I would like to congratulate Dr. Greer and his team for this accomplishment and I look forward to seeing GENESIS grow in the coming months and years.
I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the Roseman students, residents and faculty who exhibited and presented their research projects at Roseman’s 8th Annual Research Symposium, which also took place on March 30 (it was a busy day). As always, there were so many impressive research projects that demonstrated the curiosity of our current and future health professionals. More about this year’s Research Symposium winners can be found in this issue of spectRUm.
Finally, next month will be an exciting one here at Roseman University. Not only will we celebrate the commencement of the Class of 2022, with students from the Colleges of Nursing, Pharmacy, Dental Medicine graduating, fully prepared to take and pass their licensure examinations and enter their chosen profession to provide compassionate and competent patient care. We will also celebrate the very first class of graduates from the College of Graduate Studies. We are excited to welcome these graduates into our growing family of proud alumni.
Also in May, we will celebrate the opening of two new dental clinics, one at our South Jordan campus and one at our Summerlin campus. The South Jordan clinic is an expansion of our dental clinics on that campus but is also a reconfiguration of the clinical model more efficiently train dental students and treat patients. The Summerlin clinic will provide dental care to children who are patients of Cure 4 The Kids who are undergoing treatment for life-threatening conditions, including childhood cancer, blood disorders, and rheumatological diseases, and their families.
