Iconic Las Vegas Sign Glows Maroon to Honor National Doctors’ Day and Roseman’s Future Physicians
On the morning of March 30, one of Las Vegas’ most recognizable landmarks took on a new meaning. The iconic Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign glowed maroon to celebrate National Doctors’ Day and honor the physicians who dedicate their lives to caring for others.
The special ceremony, hosted by Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom, also recognized the future of medicine in Southern Nevada by celebrating the inaugural class of Roseman University College of Medicine medical students. A handful of Roseman medical students gathered at the historic sign on the Las Vegas Strip for the moment, which highlighted both the contributions of today’s physicians and the promise of the next generation currently being trained in Las Vegas.
“National Doctors’ Day is a moment to honor the physicians who dedicate their lives to caring for others and improving the health of our communities,” said Luther Brewster, PhD, MS, senior executive dean for community health innovation at Roseman University College of Medicine. “At Roseman University College of Medicine, we are committed to training doctors of character—physicians grounded in professionalism, compassion, and a deep sense of responsibility to the patients and communities they serve. As we celebrate today’s physicians, we are also proud to be preparing the next generation of doctors who will carry these values forward in Las Vegas, throughout the state of Nevada, and beyond.”
Commissioner Segerblom noted that National Doctors’ Day provides an opportunity to recognize the dedication and impact of physicians across the community.
“National Doctors’ Day is a meaningful opportunity for Clark County to pause and recognize the physicians who dedicate their lives to the health and well-being of our residents,” Segerblom said. “Roseman University College of Medicine is building the next generation of physicians right here in Southern Nevada, and that investment in our medical workforce will benefit our community for decades to come.”
The ceremony also highlighted a major milestone for Roseman University. On July 21, 2025, the College of Medicine welcomed its inaugural class of 64 medical students to the university’s Summerlin campus, marking a significant step forward for medical education in Las Vegas and across Nevada.
Illuminating the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign provided a powerful visual reminder of the essential role physicians play in the health of communities, and the importance of preparing the next generation to continue that work.
For the Roseman medical students in attendance, the ceremony served as both a celebration and an inspiration as they prepare to enter the second year in their journey toward becoming physicians committed to professionalism, compassion, and service.
As the maroon glow lit the Las Vegas sign, it symbolized not only gratitude for the physicians caring for patients today, but also confidence in the future doctors being trained right here in Southern Nevada.
