Roseman South Jordan Students Host Successful Health Fair & 5K Run

May 7, 2012

On Saturday, April 28 students from Roseman University’s National Community Pharmacists Association Student Chapter (NCPA) and College of Pharmacy hosted a 5K Fun Run and a Health Fair at the South Jordan, Utah campus. The students offered free health screenings such as blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose testing, and also hosted a Red Cross blood drive, collecting 15 units of blood for donation.

To kick off the event, 37 runners participated in a 5K Fun Run along the beautiful Jordan River Trail, and prizes were given to several winners. Throughout the day Health Fair participants could enter a raffle for prizes, visit booths for information on health and wellness, and purchase goodies from the bake sale fundraiser.

Nearby at the South Jordan City offices, students from the Roseman University South Jordan Drug Abuse Awareness Team (DAAT) also helped South Jordan Police collect medication in conjunction with the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Drug Take-Back Day. They collected approximately 300 pounds of unused and expired prescription and over-the-counter medications.

Students and faculty from Roseman University’s College of Pharmacy, College of Dental Medicine, and College of Nursing helped make the events a success.
